Millions of People Suffer from a TMJ Disorder
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a muscle that connects the jaw bone to the temporal joints in front of your ears on either side of your face. It allows for jaws movements such as biting, chewing and speaking. When this joint becomes damaged, we refer to the condition as TMJ disorder (TMD). Without proper care from a specially-trained dentist like Dr. Daren Becker, symptoms could lead to other conditions like chronic, severe headaches, neck and back pain and even depression. TMD is often caused by:
- Teeth grinding, or bruxism
- Injury or trauma to the joint or teeth
- Bite misalignment
- Stress
- Arthritis
