• Local Anesthetic numbs a specific area of the mouth that is being worked on. Medication is injected into the surrounding gum tissues. Once the medication takes effect, your cheeks, chin and tongue may feel thick and heavy. This means the anesthetic is working by blocking the nerve signals that would otherwise trigger a pain response.
• Oral Sedation is a small pill that will be prescribed prior to your appointment. Taken about an hour before you arrive to our office, it helps create a calm, euphoric feeling so you feel relaxed and comfortable before we start any treatment. We recommend asking a companion to bring you to and from your appointment for your safety, but the effects will wear off later that same day.
• Nitrous Oxide Sedation is a heavier sedation also known as “laughing gas.” With this sedation, we have more control over your level of comfort, and the effects will only last during your treatment.
